About
If you’re a pug lover in Singapore, we have the most pawsome news for you. What The Pug is Singapore’s first and only dedicated pug cuddle cafe, and it’s the ultimate destination for anyone who wants to spend quality time with these adorable, wrinkly-faced furballs. Located on the vibrant Haji Lane in Bugis, just a five-minute walk from Bugis MRT station, What The Pug offers an experience that pug enthusiasts have been dreaming about. We recently visited this delightful establishment and came away completely smitten with what the team has created.
What The Pug is home to 12 pugs, each with their own distinct personality, quirks, and charm. From hyper puppies just a little over a year old to senior dogs well above the age of 10, there’s a perfect pug match for every visitor. The cafe operates on a session-based system, with 45-minute interactive cuddle sessions that are spaced one hour apart to ensure the pugs get adequate rest and downtime between guests. This thoughtful approach means you’re never rushed, and each session remains intimate and unhurried. We appreciated how the owner, Zach, prioritises the wellbeing of his beloved pugs while still creating a warm, welcoming environment for visitors.
During our visit to What The Pug, we experienced pure joy from the moment we arrived. The space is designed to be comfortable and relaxing, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the experience of playing with and cuddling the pugs. We spent most of our 45 minutes meeting each pug, learning about their individual personalities, and enjoying quiet cuddle time on the floor or furniture. The younger pugs were energetic and playful, keeping us entertained with their antics, while the older pugs were content to lounge and receive gentle affection. We even had the opportunity to feed some of the pugs, which was an incredibly rewarding experience. The highlight of our session was undoubtedly the complimentary Polaroid photo taken with our favourite pug, a wonderful memento to take home from What The Pug.
From a practical standpoint, What The Pug makes booking and visiting straightforward and convenient. The cafe is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12pm to 7:45pm, with Mondays closed for the pugs’ rest day. All visits are by appointment only, as the team limits each session to a maximum of 10 guests to maintain the intimate, relaxed atmosphere that makes What The Pug special. Pricing is affordable and flexible: weekday sessions cost $20 per person, weekend sessions are $25 per person, and special event sessions are $28 per person. Each ticket includes a complimentary canned drink and a Polaroid souvenir photo. To book your session at What The Pug, you can purchase tickets online or call ahead. We strongly recommend booking in advance as time slots fill up quickly, especially during weekends and school holidays.
What The Pug is located at 80 Haji Lane, Singapore 189271, making it easily accessible from anywhere in Singapore. The Bugis neighbourhood is vibrant and full of other cafes, shops, and attractions, so you can easily make an afternoon or evening out of your visit. Whether you’re planning a solo pug cuddle session, a date day activity, or an outing with friends, What The Pug accommodates all group sizes and occasions.
We left What The Pug with our hearts full and our camera rolls filled with adorable pug photos. If you’ve ever dreamed of spending time with these charming, comedic companions, this is absolutely the place to make that dream a reality. The owner’s genuine love for his pugs is evident in every aspect of the experience, from the spacious and comfortable environment to the careful scheduling that prioritises pug welfare. What The Pug isn’t just a cafe — it’s a sanctuary for pug lovers and a paradise for anyone who believes that time spent cuddling pugs is time well spent.
