About
When we first heard about Under Der Linden, we couldn’t resist visiting with our four-legged friends in tow. Nestled on Portsdown Road in the One North area, Under Der Linden has quickly become our go-to destination for a delightful dining experience where our dogs are just as welcome as we are. The moment we stepped through the entrance, we knew this was something truly special — a haven for pet owners seeking a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere.
What sets Under Der Linden apart from other Singapore dining establishments is its genuine commitment to making all guests feel welcome, furry companions included. The restaurant has thoughtfully designed separate seating sections to cater to both pet owners and those who prefer pet-free dining, ensuring everyone can enjoy their meal comfortably. We appreciated this consideration as it meant we could dine with our dogs without worrying about disturbing other diners. The fact that Under Der Linden allows dogs to be seated indoors rather than relegating them to outdoor areas only makes it exceptionally pet-friendly by Singapore standards.
The aesthetic of Under Der Linden is nothing short of enchanting. Inspired by the medieval German poem, the restaurant features immaculate white walls adorned with delicate pastel flowers and poetic lines from the original verse. As we were guided to our table, we noticed the thoughtful decoration throughout — hanging dried flowers suspended from above, ivy-clad walls, and soft ambient lighting that created an almost dreamlike atmosphere. The space is generous and uncluttered, making it easy to navigate with our dogs without feeling confined or cramped.
Under Der Linden’s culinary offerings are equally impressive. We indulged in their European menu, which showcases carefully curated dishes that reflect contemporary gastronomy. From fresh oysters to creamy stracciatella, squid ink spaghetti with tiger shrimp, and their celebrated dry-aged black Angus ribeye, each plate demonstrated culinary expertise. The restaurant also features an in-house dessert house that serves absolutely divine creations — we couldn’t resist trying their Earl Grey Lavender cake and the Chamomile Mango Swiss Roulade, which were as visually stunning as they were delicious.
The beverage selection at Under Der Linden impressed us equally. Beyond their excellent coffee offerings, they’ve crafted signature drinks that are truly memorable. We sipped on the Tandaradei, featuring butterfly pea flower tea that changes colour as you add citrus, and the Walther Vogelweide, a sophisticated blend incorporating lychee and yuzu tea. These creative concoctions pair perfectly with the restaurant’s cuisine and add to the overall experience.
Practical details matter when dining with dogs, and Under Der Linden has thought through these aspects beautifully. The restaurant offers complimentary parking, which is a significant advantage in the One North area where parking can be challenging. The cosy interior lighting is perfect for those Instagram-worthy moments we dog owners love to capture, and the service staff demonstrated genuine warmth and attentiveness toward both us and our canine companions. Opening from 11:00am to 9:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 9:00pm on weekends with the last order at 8:30pm daily, Under Der Linden fits well into various schedules.
Our experience at Under Der Linden reinforced why this establishment has become beloved among Singapore’s pet-owning community. It successfully marries sophisticated European cuisine with genuine pet-friendliness, creating a space where dogs and their owners can celebrate special moments together. The attention to detail, from the floral-themed décor to the welcoming attitude toward pets, makes Under Der Linden a destination restaurant rather than just another dining option. We left with our hearts full, our dogs happy, and our taste buds thoroughly satisfied.
