About
When we heard that Zorba The Greek Taverna had reopened with a grand celebration complete with a pop-up pet market, we knew we had to bring our furry friends along to experience this beloved Greek gem for ourselves. Located at Clarke Quay along the picturesque Singapore River, Zorba The Greek Taverna has quickly become our go-to destination when we want Mediterranean flavours without leaving our pups behind. The moment we arrived with our dogs, we were greeted warmly by the staff who made it clear that our four-legged companions were not just tolerated but genuinely welcomed.
Zorba The Greek Taverna is a beautifully designed taverna that captures the essence of authentic Greece right here in the heart of Singapore. The restaurant transforms throughout the day — by morning and afternoon, it channels the relaxed vibes of a traditional Mykonos-inspired café with breezy, light Mediterranean energy. As the sun begins to set, the atmosphere shifts elegantly into a Santorini-style taverna, complete with warm ambient lighting and the gentle sound of the river flowing just beyond. The dual personality of Zorba The Greek Taverna makes it the perfect spot whether you’re planning a leisurely brunch or an evening of indulgence with your beloved pets by your side.
When we arrived at the outdoor seating area with our dogs, we were immediately impressed by the thoughtfully designed space. The riverside location provides natural shade, a gentle breeze, and plenty of room for our pets to settle comfortably while we dined. The outdoor setup is spacious enough that our dogs didn’t feel cramped, and fellow diners seemed equally delighted to see well-behaved pets enjoying the experience. What made our visit even more special was learning that Zorba The Greek Taverna periodically hosts pet-focused events where patrons who bring their furry companions receive discounts on their dining — a genuine reflection of how much the restaurant values its pet-owning clientele.
The menu at Zorba The Greek Taverna impressed us considerably. During the day, we tried their renowned shakshuka, a beautifully presented sourdough toast topped with sous-vide eggs, fresh tomato sauce, bell peppers, onions, and aromatic garlic — light enough for a lazy afternoon yet satisfying enough to keep us energised. For our evening visit, we returned to sample the hirines brizoles, a marinated Duroc pork cutlet that was incredibly tender and flavourful, paired perfectly with traditional Greek sides. The garides saganaki, featuring pan-seared red sea prawns with tomato sauce and creamy feta cheese, was absolutely divine. Every dish at Zorba The Greek Taverna showcased genuine Greek culinary traditions without pretension, and the portions were generous enough that we didn’t need to over-order.
The drinks selection complemented the food beautifully. We enjoyed crisp Greek white wines and refreshing Mediterranean non-alcoholic options that paired wonderfully with our meals. The bartender was knowledgeable and eager to make recommendations, which enhanced our overall experience at Zorba The Greek Taverna significantly. Between bites, we found ourselves simply soaking in the atmosphere — the river views, the gentle lighting, and the company of other pet owners enjoying the same experience created an almost magical evening.
What we appreciated most about dining at Zorba The Greek Taverna was the practical pet-friendly setup. Water bowls were provided without us needing to ask, the staff was attentive to our dogs’ comfort, and the outdoor location meant our pets could enjoy the evening breeze and natural surroundings. The space is generous enough that you’re not worried about your dog accidentally bumping into other diners or tripping servers. If you’re bringing a pet with anxiety or sensitivity to crowds, the outdoor riverside setting at Zorba The Greek Taverna is substantially calmer than many indoor dining venues.
